Twin sisters Amanda and Katrina Bourne know the NDIS from the inside out. As plan managers, they’ve seen how even the best-intentioned systems can fail the people they’re meant to protect – when care dollars go missing or relationships blur the lines between friendship and professionalism.
They’ll never forget one story: a participant who believed her support worker was also a friend – sharing coffee outings and conversation. Later, she discovered those “friendship” moments had been billed to her NDIS plan. It wasn’t just financial harm; it felt like a deep betrayal of trust.
That moment struck a chord.
Care relationships should always feel safe, transparent, and fair. So when Katrina, through her involvement with surf life saving carnivals, saw wristband technology being used to track competitors in real time, an idea took hold: what if care could be tracked just as easily – with a simple tap?
Over coffee (and a round of drinks) with Amanda, CareTick was born – a simple, participant-first system designed to protect trust, funding, and peace of mind. Today, their vision continues to guide CareTick’s mission: turning care into something you can see, trust, and rely on – one tick at a time.
